 Paper Quilts

During the "National Ice Cream Day" weekend event on Sunday, July
19, 2009, the New Jersey Museum of Agriculture held a barn quilt dedication ceremony. Children were asked to create a paper quilt square that would be included in a hallway display in the museum that would help commemorate the date.

BARN QUILT DEDICATION -
The New Jersey Barn Quilt Project, “A Celebration of Quilts” is a unique form of public art to bring visitors off of the highways and back into the farmlands.  Designed to highlight the rural, agricultural heritage of New Jersey, as well as the important folk art of quilting, the Barn Quilt Project will feature large patchwork quilt blocks that are painted onto the sides of barns and other farm buildings in the area.  These designs will be approximately 8'x8' and will be painted onto the building or onto a plywood frame and mounted on the structure.
